What are “multi-line” slots?
Multi-line slot machines are slot machines that do not pay out winning combinations solely and exclusively on the main line, as is the case with mechanical lever machines found in Las Vegas casinos.
Typically, you can bet on 10, 100 or even 1,000 different paylines, which affects payouts and winning combinations.
To make you understand how this betting option works, imagine that you have won with a combination that pays 100X, with a bet of 1 euro. In this case, by betting on a payline, the payout will be 100 euros.
However, if you bet on ten lines, the winnings must be divided by 10. The winnings obtained will then be “only” 10 euros. Generally, those who bet on many lines aim for the bonus feature or win jackpots.
What features do these slot machines have?
These slot machines have no special features. By now, almost all slot machines offer more paylines, as you win more often, although many times the winnings are less than the bet.
This creates a kind of illusion that the player likes. I think there will be more and more multi-line slot machines and fewer slot machines with fixed or single paylines in time.
Do all slot machines have multiple paylines?
If you want a short answer, no, not all slot machines have multiple paylines. Some “classic” style slots still offer single or fixed-line play.
They are, however, few and far between and are especially loved by gaming purists. I have played these slot machines very little, as I find them rather monotonous, as the payouts are infrequent.
Here’s how to tell if multi-line slots are for you
Honestly, I think there is “very little” to understand. Of course, there are also exceptions, but I think you will like these slots. Of course, if you come from the first generation of slot machine games, you might not like them, but I don’t think so.
After all, it angers everyone to lose a winning combination because of a missed line. Thanks to the multi-line function, you will lose some of your winnings but get more winning combinations.
A personal note on these online slots
At this point, I think it is clear that I favour multi-payline slots. Single or fixed-line games are monotonous, and you won’t see any wins for long.
If you have never tried these slot machines, try them, even in demo mode. Surely, having more winnings and bonus plays during the game will make the game more fun.
