What are classic slots?
As I anticipated, classic slots are those games that are old or reminiscent, at least graphically, of the first slot machines created. We are talking about a category of games that could be extended and expanded, as there are numerous sub-categories.
That said, there is no “easy” way to label a slot machine as classic. It all depends on the player’s perception, background and their definition of “classic”.
Distinctive features of these slot machines
Let us now discuss a few features that distinguish classic slots and might help you recognise some. First of all, these slot machines are easy to play.
Like me, you are probably a “new” player and have not spent more than two decades playing online casinos. Compared to twenty years ago, modern slot machines are a bit confusing.
There are many, perhaps too many, extra features, such as bonus-buy, megaway function or progressive jackpots. In short, the classic game has lost its way. You’ve hit the jackpot if you find a game without many features.
Secondly, we have the graphics. Simple symbols like bells, diamonds or fruit are often synonymous with a classic slot machine game. By combining the two characteristics I have provided in this section, you will almost always hit the jackpot in finding a classic slot.
Do classic slots mean old slots?
Absolutely not! Firstly, finding old slots that have been recreated in HTML5 format is virtually impossible. Secondly, game providers like WMG work exclusively to create classic-style slots.
These slots are created with modern HTML5 technology but without the inclusion of too many modern features or newly created technologies. You’ll always find a few mini-games, but these never hurt!
How can you tell if classic slots are for you?
I recommend you try a classic slot game in demo format without paying real money. This is the only way to try out a game and see whether or not it is for you.
After all, they are quite monotonous games, and if you are used to features with a thousand animations, small lights and free spins every 10 seconds, these slot machines might disappoint you, and you might not like them.
A personal note on these slot machines
Let’s summarise classic slot machines. Do I like them? Yes and no. Let’s say they are not my favourite slot machines. I love slots with bonus games, although I’m not crazy about features like bonus-buy or drop symbols.
I must say that some of these slot machines, such as Amazing Stars, are also nice to play, but of course, we are talking about developers of the Novomatic calibre. Try them for free, even if it’s just for five minutes, to see if they are games for you.
