What are fruit slot machines?
The definition of a slot machine with fruit has most of the game symbols representing fruit. Personally, I classify slots with fruit only for games with almost all symbols in this category.
Often, symbols accompany the fruit almost naturally, such as bells and diamonds, which also belong to the early Liberty Bell-style slot games.
Let’s take a look at the peculiarities of these online slots
Fruit slot machines generally have a rather classic playability. Take, for example, Novomatic’s Power Stars: a modern game that maintains a classic game engine using retro-style symbols.
The peculiarity of these games is the lack of exclusive bonus features or animations during play. They are made and finished slot machines without the frills we are used to.
Why are fruit symbols used in slots?
Few people could think of why the first slot machines used fruit symbols. Simply put, fruit has always symbolised abundance, especially in antiquity.
Having said that, it is only natural that Charles Fey, the creator of the first slot machine, invented the idea of using fruit. In the past, some thought that fruit symbols paid according to their “price” at the supermarket.
This is a rumour and has never been confirmed. However, it is nice to think there might be a story behind this choice. Let’s go and see how you can tell if fruit slots are right for you.
How can you tell if fruit slots are for you?
Right away, I’ll tell you one thing: fruit slots are not for everyone. You have to know how to pick up and play games. They often result in monotonous games with no animation in between, which many players do not like.
The best way to determine if the game is right for you is to try some of it out in demo format. Try playing for at least ten minutes to see if this rather “monotonous” type of game suits your style.
What do I think of these slot machines?
I played fruit slots for a long time, also because, in my time, there were only those. Some time ago, I took them up again, urged on by some friends who only play these, considering them “the real slot machines”.
Personally, slot machines with fruit do not excite me. I’ll tell you, I’m not a fan of modern gaming features, bonus-buy and the like, but I’m also not the type for dull, emotionless games.
That said, if you are new to online slots, then fruit slots are a good start, as they are rather simple to play and have no complex functions to swallow.
