Did you ever watch Sailor Moon as a kid? This online slot, entitled Moon Princess, looks like it has taken all its inspiration from that programme. Play’n Go is responsible for its creation, and the visual side of it stands out, as does the set of special features it contains. Moon Princess comes with a higher-than-average RTP rate, although it may be a bit too volatile for some players.
Why should Moon Princess be on your list to play?
You don’t have to be a fan of anime or even standard cartoon shows to enjoy Moon Princess. While it does utilise such a base theme, the grid setup of 5×5 and the cluster pays included make it inviting in the first instance. That enjoyment is bolstered by the various special features you can experience while playing it.
Throw in the great RTP rate, the meter filling and the modifiers to the reels, and you’ve got something exciting. The official word on Moon Princess is that it can pay out up to 5,000x your bet, and when it gets into its stride, that is very much believable. The volatility is very high though, so be careful with your wagers.
- Filled to the brim with bonus content – I love the modifiers included.
- Features an RTP rate of 96.50%.
- Inviting 5×5 grid and cluster pays.
- Comes with a very high volatility.
- Theme may be a bit too twee for some players.
The bets that will take you to the moon
You always need to make sure you’re placing appropriate bets in online slots. If you play Moon Princess, it is easy to select a proper bet. Various values run along the bottom of the game screen, starting with the lowest wager of 20p per spin and increasing up to the maximum of £100 per spin. Click on the bet level you prefer and then hit the circular green button in the bottom-right corner.
New symbols will then drop onto the grid. Wins are formed in Moon Princess by three or more identical symbols landing in anywhere in a row, horizontally or vertically. The slot’s paytable provides insight into the payouts available, with higher paying inclusions surrounding three anime characters – Storm, Star and Love.
A few specialities to enjoy
Everything in this slot is cutesy and brightly coloured, which leads the way into the special features for you. A crescent moon symbol serves as the game’s wild, which substitutes for all symbols, helping you to create wins. It can also pay out up to 50x your stake.
My favourite part of Moon Princess is the Girl Power perk. This can trigger at random on non-winning spins, with each of the three princesses having their own unique power. The active princess changes after each trigger of Girl Power. Their powers include:
- Storm – Destroys two sets of any symbol.
- Star – Adds up to two wilds to the grid.
- Love – Transforms one set of symbols into another.
Forming wins with the princess symbols will add charge to the meter in the bottom-left corner. If you fully charge this, you experience the Princess Trinity feature. This sees each of the three princesses take turns performing their powers. From a wager of £5, I managed to trigger this and gain a payout of £62.50 in the end.
The final addition to the slot is the free spins round. Clear the grid of all its symbols to trigger this. You choose one of the three free spins options, with each princess representing one. Fewer free spins means higher risk, but there is higher winning potential, too.
Official word on the technical details of Moon Princess
I viewed the official documents on the Moon Princess slot machine, provided by Play’n Go. This explains that the slot comes with an RTP rate of 96.50%, which sits nicely above the general average. RTP stands for return to player, highlighting how much you can expect to receive back from the slot over time in winnings.
Moon Princess is also a high volatility game, though. For this reason, you need to customise your bets to suit the chance of several consecutive non-winning spins. If you do choose to play the game, you can win up to 5,000x your bet from it.
The final take on this Play’n GO slot
Usually, I’m not the biggest fan of playing games that are too cutesy and overly pink. Moon Princess definitely falls into that category. Yet having played it in demo mode, I can say that it does provide an impressive slot. The visuals are on point, the betting range is great, and the special features included make it entertaining throughout.
I really like the randomly triggered Girl Power perks, as they can be really helpful. Its always nice to see cluster pays in an online slot, too. Yes, the high volatility may be an issue for some gamers. If you place appropriate bets for your bankroll though, you should be able to get by and have a good gaming session on Moon Princess.
